Raveendra Nath "Ravi" Batra (lahir 27 Juni 1943),^[2] adalah ekonom India-Amerika, penulis, dan dosen di Southern Methodist University. Batra merupakan penulis enam buku laris, dua di antaranya masuk daftar The New York Times Best Seller dan salah satu di antaranya (The Great Depression of 1990) menempati posisi puncak pada akhir 1987. Buku-bukunya membahas bahwa kapitalisme keuangan memicu kesenjangan berlebihan dan korupsi politik yang berakhir dengan krisis keuangan dan depresi ekonomi.^[3] Dalam tulisan-tulisannya, Batra mengusulkan sistem distribusi setara bernama teori pemanfaatan progresif (PROUT) sebagai cara untuk menjamin kesejahteraan materi dan kesempatan bagi semua orang untuk memanfaatkan potensinya.

Ravi Batra pernah tampil di CBS, NBC, CNN, ABC, dan CNBC dan dibahas oleh The New York Times,^[4] Time,^[5] dan Newsweek.^[6] Since the financial crisis, Batra has been a frequent guest on radio shows^[7] and featured in numerous publications.^[8]^[9]
