Whiteia adalah sebuah genus ikan coelacanth prasejarah punah yang hidup selama periode Trias.^[1] Genus ini dinamai bedasarkan Errol White.

Taksonomi

Spesies tipenya adalah Whiteia woodwardi dari Trias Awal di Madagaskar. Spesies Trias Awal lainnya adalah W. tuberculata, W. uyenoteruyai (keduanya dari Madagaskar), W. nielseni (Greenland Timur), W.? banffensis (Alberta, Kanada) dan W. africana (Afrika Selatan).^[1] Dua spesies, W. oishii (Timor Timur, Indonesia) dan W. gigantea (Texas, Amerika Serikat), berasal dari Trias Akhir.^[2]^[3]^[4]

Spesies nominat Coelacanthus evolutus Beltan, 1980 adalah sebuah sinonim junior dari Whiteia woodwardi.^[5]
