Awalnya dikenal sebagai The Hi-Fi's, grup musik ini berganti nama menjadi The 5th Dimension pada akhir tahun 1966 dan paling terkenal selama tahun 1960-an dan awal tahun 1970-an untuk mempopulerkan lagu "Up, Up and Away", "Stoned Soul Picnic", "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In", "Wedding Bell Blues", "One Less Bell to Answer", "(Last Night) I Didn't Get to Sleep at All", dan LP The Magic Garden.

Awalnya dikenal sebagai The Hi-Fi's,[1] grup musik ini berganti nama menjadi The 5th Dimension pada akhir tahun 1966 dan paling terkenal selama tahun 1960-an dan awal tahun 1970-an untuk mempopulerkan lagu "Up, Up and Away", "Stoned Soul Picnic", "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In", "Wedding Bell Blues", "One Less Bell to Answer", "(Last Night) I Didn't Get to Sleep at All", dan LP The Magic Garden.
Grup musik ini terdiri dari lima anggota asli: Billy Davis, Jr., Florence LaRue, Marilyn McCoo, Lamonte McLemore, dan Ron Townson. Tapi Ron Townson meninggal pada tanggal 2 Agustus 2001 karena gagal ginjal.
McCoo dan Davis meninggalkan grup pada bulan November 1975. Sejak itu, anggota lain telah disertakan:
