Myocastor adalah genus hewan pengerat yang mencakup nutria (atau coypu) yang masih hidup, serta beberapa spesies fosil (punah).
Taksonomi
Karena morfologi kranium mereka yang serupa, nutria awalnya dianggap sebagai kerabat dekat hutia dari kepulauan Karibia, ditempatkan bersama dalam famili Capromyidae.[1] Belakangan, dipindahkan ke familinya sendiri, Myocastoridae.[2] Studi molekuler terkini menempatkannya pada famili Echimyidae, dalam tribus Myocastorini.[3][4][5]

Spesies lain yang dideskripsikan namun sekarang tidak sah mecakup Myocastor minor, Myocastor perditus, and Myocastor priscus.
