Jalur kereta api Saketi–Bayah adalah jalur kereta api nonaktif yang menghubungkan Stasiun Saketi dengan Stasiun Bayah, termasuk dalam Wilayah Penjagaan Aset I Jakarta. Lintas kereta api sepanjang 89 km dan lebar sepur 1.067 mm ini dibangun pada tahun 1943-1944 oleh pekerja romusha pada zaman pendudukan Jepang di Indonesia. Jalur ini melewati 29 jembatan, 9 stasiun dan 5 halte.^[1] Setelah beroperasi selama beberapa tahun saja, lintas ini ditutup pada 1951.

Bekas-bekas bangunan stasiun maupun jembatan kereta api sebagian masih dapat dilihat, walaupun kebanyakan relnya sudah lenyap. Di beberapa stasiun, seperti Stasiun Malingping dan Stasiun Bayah, hanya tersisa fondasi peron atau bahkan telah berubah menjadi permukiman warga.^[2]

Sejarah

Jalur kereta api Saketi–Bayah dibangun pekerja romusha Jepang untuk mengangkut batu bara dari wilayah Bayah, untuk memasok keperluan Perang Dunia II. Dalam membangun jalur yang sulit ini, Jepang mengerahkan puluhan ribu romusha, terutama yang berasal dari Jawa Tengah dan Yogyakarta; tidak kurang dari 60.000 orang di antaranya mati sebagai korbannya.^[3]

Jalur kereta api Saketi–Bayah awalnya direncanakan pada bulan Juli 1942. Pembangunan jalur ini dimulai dari Saketi pada bulan Januari 1943 yang dimulai dengan pembukaan lahan, penyiapan bahan material seperti batu balas/kricak, pemasangan bantalan dan rel kereta api menuju ke arah Bayah. Rel-rel kereta api yang digunakan sebagian diambil dari bekas-bekas rel kereta lori pabrik gula yang tutup di Jawa Tengah, dan sebagian lagi berasal dari jalur kereta api milik Pasoeroean Stoomtram Maatschappij (PsSM).^[4][5]

Pada Maret 1944, lintas kereta api ini telah selesai dibangun dan diresmikan pada 1 April 1944. Lintas ini dioperasikan di bawah pengawasan militer Jepang. Menggunakan lokomotif uap BB10 sebagai penghelanya, dari wilayah Bayah dapat diangkut sekitar 300 ton batu bara setiap harinya; okupansi penumpang mencapai 800 orang perhari. Setelah kemerdekaan, antara 1945-1946 jalur ini dikelola oleh Djawatan Kereta Api Repoeblik Indonesia (DKARI), tetapi sempat berhenti beroperasi antara 1946-1947 karena kekacauan situasi peperangan. Tahun 1948 beroperasi kembali hingga sekitar tahun 1951, dan pada akhirnya ditutup karena pemasukan yang minim sementara biaya operasionalnya tinggi.^[4][5]

Setelah ditutup pada tahun 1951, sisa-sisa sarana dan prasarana perkeretaapian di jalur ini dibongkar. Pembongkarannya bahkan baru dilaksanakan pada 5 Desember 1960, berdasarkan surat PNKA tertanggal 30 April 1965 dan sempat tercatat di dalam buku Daftar Lintas Jalur Rel Perusahaan Jawatan Kereta Api.^[6]
