Why did I randomly recieve a welcome message on the Indonesian Wikiepedia?

I don't remember ever visiting/contributing on this particular Wiki. And I've recieved said welcome message by a bot: Pengguna:Wagino Bot. What's up with this, is the bot failing or something? Pizzahut69 (bicara) 27 Juli 2022 16.26 (UTC)

@Wagino 20100516, Have you fixed this? It should have got fixed long ago. ZanzibarSailor (bicara) 25 September 2023 11.30 (UTC)

Hi all - a few questions about language and names

Hi all

I am hoping there is someone who can advise me about the naming protocols for mountains and places (including islands).

I am having difficulty understanding the relationship between "gunung" (eng=mountain), "ili", "ile" and "mount" for example, when naming mountains and volcanos.

For example, the translation of "volcano" into Indonesian (bahasa) according to google translate is "gunung berapi" (eng=fiery mountain?) but the maps I have seen simply use "gunung", or "ili" ... I cannot find a translation of "ili", for example Ili Udjolewung on Lomblen. From this, I deduced that anything that would be called "mountain" should be Gunung, but volcanos should be Gunung Berapi, so for me it should be Gunung Berapi Lewolebo - as it is an active volcano.

Similarly, we have "Lewotolo" and "Lewotolok" , and currently we have it as Mount Ile Lewotolok - normally we would use a google search for the most common name used in English, but that gives Lewotolo as the most used name, followed by Lewotolok and finally Mount Ile Lewotolok not even Mount Ili Lewotolok used in some media (here for example "Indonesian volcano Mount Ili Lewotolok erupts, closing airport" https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/nov/29/indonesian-volcano-mount-ili-lewotolok-erupts).

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Chaosdruid (bicara) 17 September 2022 13.16 (UTC)

@Chaosdruid: pada umumnya bahasa Indonesia tidak membedakan antara gunung berapi dengan non-berapi dalam penamaan; Gunung Merapi tidak disebut sebagai Gunung Api Merapi. dwadieff ✉ 19 September 2022 06.24 (UTC)
David Wadie Fisher-Freberg We are calling things "Mount Gunung XXX" for example, so "mount mount XXXX".
It is quite important for the older names, such as Ambulombo which is now written as Ebulobo - should it be that or "Ebu Lobo"?
Our tranlsators are telling us that Api means "fire", so Merapi means "Mount Mer fire (Mount mer volcano)"? Just wondering, that is just me trying to understand the language.
Mt Sano is said to be the mountain (where the peak is) and that the volcano is several hundred feet below that, in the crater where the fumeroles are and the lake is. So we have Mount Sano and Sano Volcano.
There is also "keli" so Kelimutu, Keli Bara, Keli Ndoro - should we be writing these all as "Keli XXX" or "KeliXXX" or are those names correct?
I expected that it would be the case, as it is the same with Mount Etna, for example.
It does not explain the Keli prefixes, is this because that is the region or mountain range they are in? Chaosdruid (bicara) 19 September 2022 21.58 (UTC)
Regardless of the history of the naming of Mount Merapi, we Indonesians, at least me and many people around me, rarely (even almost never) think of or treat the name 'Merapi' as the combination of 'Mer-' and 'Api'. Who told you that? Which Indonesians told you to translate Merapi that way? (I am asking jokingly, no need for being serious here :D) ZanzibarSailor (bicara) 3 Oktober 2023 10.06 (UTC)
Your translator ability to understand Indonesian is a bit questionable by seeing the way you explain how they told you to translate Merapi to English. ZanzibarSailor (bicara) 3 Oktober 2023 10.09 (UTC)
And in the case of volcano, I wanna give you analogy. English Wikipedia tells that Mount Fuji is a volcano, would you refer to this mount as 'Volcano Fuji' or 'Mount Fuji'? Psstt.. The title of the Fuji article on English Wikipedia will serve you the clue. :D ZanzibarSailor (bicara) 3 Oktober 2023 10.14 (UTC)
