I am delighted to write this letter on behalf of Rambu Naha Tarap, to outline her significant contribution as a participant in Bebaskan Pengetahuan 2010 (Free Your Knowledge 2010), a writing competition for Indonesian Wikipedia from April 1 to June 16, 2010.
The "Bebaskan Pengetahuan 2010" (BP2010) is a three month program developed by Wikimedia Indonesia to leverage public participation to improve Indonesian language Wikipedia articles. It is a pilot project to introduce the Wikimedia mission "Free Knowledge" worldwide. The ultimate goal is to provide an open source of information for everyone. The competition targets talented young writers from universities and partners with mainstream media. By providing information and inspiring discourse, Wikimedia is hoping to promote a stronger demand for improved information and increased community participation from the local to national level.
Rambu was introduced to the project by her lecturer and participant was filtered internally by writing an essay, her participation later on confirmed by her lecturer. Each university is permitted to submit no more than nine of their best students as participants to compete on behalf of the university. As one of the chosen nine, Rambu competed on behalf of the Faculty of Industrial Technology at Mercu Buana University, Jakarta. According to the Project Director supervisor Siska Doviana, during her three months competition, Rambu was a dilligent and persistent participant. She also possesses a positive attitude and a strong desire to grow and improve, allowing her to respond maturely and constructively to critique.
Rambu successfully wrote 28 (twenty-eight) high-quality articles within 72 days of the competition. The articles, both long and short, cover a diverse range of topics including industry, science, environment, and animal articles. Rambu's hard work culminated in the successful completion of the competition; she became one of only seventeen participants (out of an initial 90) who managed to complete the demanding three-month competition.
We would like to congratulate Rambu for her achievement and her tireless work to improve and create articles. Wikimedia wishes her happiness and success in her future endeavors.
