Musica universalis

Musica universalis (artinya musik universal) adalah sebuah konsep filsafat kuno yang menjelaskan proporsi-proporsi dalam gerak benda-benda langit (Matahari, Bulan, dan planet-planet) sebagai bentuk musica (istilah Latin Abad Pertengahan untuk musik). "Musik" ini biasanya tak dianggap sebagai arti harfiah, tetapi sebuah harmoni, matematika atau relijius. Gagasan tersebut masih diterapkan pada para pemikir soal musik sampai akhir Renaisans, memengaruhi para cendekiawan dari banyak bidang, termasuk humanis.
